The Centers take their inspiration from Saint Vincent Pallotti (1795-1850) who believed passionately in the laity, in each person as being an image of God and as called by baptism to be an apostle.
"We are a Catholic community of lay people (single men and women and married couples) called through our baptism to mission. We share in the ministry of Jesus to spread the Good News and work for the Reign of God. We seek to walk with the poor of other countries, sharing our talents, learning from one another, and joining together in the struggle for a more just and compassionate world."
[Ed. Note]: The Archdiocese of Los Angeles funds this lay mission program and provides training and support for the lay missioners. They work in Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Micronesia and Samoa, with plans well underway for new outreaches in Guatamala and Thailand. Thanks to Allen Scheid, Mission Office of Los Angeles, for this excellent model for what any diocese can undertake. To see more U.S. diocesan or parish mission initiatives, Please Click Here!
"If you are looking for a way to use your skills and talents to create a better world, then you've come to the right place! We are dedicated to offering the invitation of service to all people."

The mission of the Saint Vincent Pallotti Center is to promote lay volunteer service that challenges the laity, clergy and religious to work together in the mission of the Church. Our goal is to support lay volunteers before, during and after their term of service.

Catholic Network of Volunteer Service
Catholic Network of Volunteer Service is a non-profit organization representing over 180 domestic and international volunteer programs.

Since 1956 more than 7,000 members of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps have committed themselves to working with the poor. They have put off graduate school and turned down job offers in order to offer alternatives to people who have few options.
Hundreds of grassroots organizations across the country count on Jesuit Volunteers to provide essential services to low-income people and those who live on the margins of our society.
Jesuit Volunteers serve the homeless, the unemployed, refugees, people with AIDS, the elderly, street youth, abused women and children, the mentally ill and the developmentally disabled. JVC has become the largest Catholic lay volunteer program in the country.
Some job placements require specific credentials or licenses, but most JVC jobs can be done by people who have a general educational background and a willingness to learn new skills.
JVC is more than just a job. Social justice, simple life-style, community and spirituality: these values provide the cornerstone for living out a commitment to faith and justice.
Action Without Borders is a nonprofit organization based in New York that promotes the sharing of ideas, information and resources to help build a world where all people can live free, dignified and productive lives. We currently do this by:
