1/26/2004 - Our PWB site now enhanced by new sister site http://pwb.genewalsh.com! The original and ongoing purpose of Parish Without Borders, originally named "Global2000" is to sensitize U.S. parish ministries to the global mission of the church. Too many parishes remain satisfied to collect some cans of food or other token help for the neediest of the local working poor and remain blissfully oblivious to the full international mission to all of God's people. I personally experienced this in an upscale Flordia parish during much of last year, which does have a very dedicated St. Vincent de Paul group and tiny local outreach office well away from the parish grounds -- but not the slightest interest in the world beyond its territorial borders. The new web site, affiliated with the legacy of Father Eugene Walsh, S.S. (1911-1989) is a calculated effort by me personally to keep global mission "gently in the faces of" parish councils, music, education and liturgy ministries. The new site will contain some fresh content and also point back to to wealth of resources developed on this site. The new site will be fully functional before the end of this month.
1/1/2004 - In wishing all regular and occasional visitors to this website the blessings of a new calendar year, I would like to confirm that I personally and my somewhat "mobile" publishing ministry will be based in the Catholic Diocese of Knoxville for the foreseeable future. I have discovered the Knoxville diocese and its parishes to be a leading exemplar, model or paradigm of every value and practice to which this website is devoted. The seriousness of global outreach is manifested in so many ways. As I write, Bishop Kurtz is preparing to visit one sister diocese in Mexico, and our vocation director is enroute to another sister diocese in Haiti.
12/16/2004 - I have just returned from an extended visit to Sacred Heart Cathedral and the Knoxville diocesan offices. I experienced powerful liturgical prayer and fiesta in the cathedral celebration of Our Lady of Guadaloupe
11/11/2003 - Missionary Service News Agency: Upgrade of MISNA listing on the NEWS Page, with direct links to choice of English, French or Italian editions.
11/10/2003 - I just noticed that the Catholic World News "ticker" on the NEWS page no longer works - because CWS has upgraded to a new style of ticker, so much more pleasant to view that I feel it is worth placing at the top of THIS page as well as on the News page and even the Home page!
11/09/2003 - General site maintenance and updating.
11/07/2003 - Links added to the website of the Sister of Charity of Nazareth, Kentucky SCN). Click below to see a page from the SCN Social Justice Ministry.

10/19/2003 - Mission Sunday, 2003!
10/12/2003 - Mission Sunday is just a week away. I regret that I have not been able to update our Mission Sunday resources, but what is there is solid.
9/9/2003 - Due to unexpected family and health issues, I have been largely unable to attend to PAA's internet activities since right around 9/11/2001, though there is no connection between that catastrophic day in the human story and my own small world. Happily and gratefully, I have rediscovered that the passing of time indeed can, and really has brought both healing and renewed focus. It's so good to be back. Dan Onley.

3/28/2001 - LOS ANGELES (CNS) -- A combination of solidarity and Christian faith in action are enough to overcome global poverty and to create a world based on justice and peace, said speakers at the Justice and Peace Conference III in Los Angeles. ``I look to the 21st century with great hope, because Christians are going to be very active,'' said keynote speaker Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga of Tegucigalpa, Honduras. ``In this globalized economy, we have to globalize solidarity.'' The daylong forum held on the campus of Loyola Marymount University March 17 drew some 3,500 Catholic social action leaders and keynote speakers from five countries eager to address local and world concerns that have 3 billion people -- half of the world's population -- living in poverty.
