Maryknoll Partners in Cambodia

Maryknoll partners are groups or individuals who work closely together with Maryknoll. Although not members of Maryknoll, they share the same vision and goals, and we assist each other in the development of Cambodia and the spread of the Good News.

This year Maryknoll partnered with Notre Dame University in the United States as a host for two Notre Dame students who came to Cambodia to learn about life and ministry in a developing country and to offer their time and energy and skills to that development.

Chris DeStephano and Peter Quaranto spent eight weeks in June, July, and August in Phnom Penh. Their main responsibility was teaching a summer English course at the Royal University of Phnom Penh, but they were both self-starters and managed to take on several other involvements also.

Also with us in Cambodia was another ND junior, Jamie Kralovec who worked first with Maryknoll in Thailand before coming to Phnom Penh for two weeks.

C DeStephano and Peter Quaranto at Wat Phnom    During their time in Cambodia, Chris DeStephano and Peter Quaranto were able to visit Angkor Wat and also to see interesting places in Phnom Penh. Here they take a break at Wat Phnom, the central Buddhist temple for Cambodia and Phnom Penh.

C DeStephano and P Quaranto with Buddhist monks    Chris and Peter had a chance to interact with Buddhist monks at different times during their stay in Cambodia.
