John and Kathy Morefield are retired educators from Seattle, Washington who came to Cambodia to spend a month working in the Maryknoll Wat Than Skills Training Program for Landmine and Polio Disabled people.

Back in Seattle, Kathy serves as a spiritual director and John organizes retreats and spiritual experiences for educators and school personnel.  They are members of the local Maryknoll Affiliate group in Seattle.

Here in Phnom Penh they have taken on a variety of roles at Wat Than in addition to learning about various projects and ministries in Cambodia.  They had visited Cambodia several years ago and experienced then an attraction and desire to come back in a non-tourist role.

Joining with Lay Missioners in Cambodia

The lay missioners from various communities based in Phnom Penh gather once a month to discuss ideas and programs and to form a support base for each other. Kathy and John joined the group the day they went to Banteay Prieb, a Jesuit training facility for young people with disabilities, located about fifteen miles outside of Phnom Penh.
