Sr. Luise Ahrens (orange shirt) celebrates her 50th anniversary of entering the Maryknoll Sisters this year. Next week she will return to Maryknoll, New York for the large celebration there but today she celebrated with the Maryknoll community and friends in Phnom Penh. Alice Marianito, Jean-François Frys, and Bob Wynne joined her in the opening hymn of a mass to start the celebration. |

After mass, Sr. Regina Pellicore, another of the long-term Maryknoll sisters in Cambodia, expressed the community's appreciation for Luise's presence and work in Cambodia and gave a gift to her. |

Almost all Maryknoll celebrations in Cambodia involve cake and ice cream, and this was no exception. Perhaps it's because it is almost impossible to buy a western-style real cake here and everyone appreciates the occasions when someone bakes cakes in the style we're used to--and love! |

Ellen Minotti, Jean-François Frys, Eva, and Luise have all been in Cambodia basically since it reopened after Pol Pot. They can have the satisfaction of being able to see the results of their work in forming the reborn Cambodia. They have made major contributions. |
