Many Maryknollers have come to work in Cambodia, and, after their terms with Maryknoll were completed, stayed on to work for other organizations, usually faith-based NGOs doing work similar to Maryknoll's. That is what you call having a heart for mission!

While with Maryknoll, both Mark Munoz and Patty Curran worked at the Wat Than Skills Training Project for Polio and Landmine Victims. After Mark and Patty completed their terms with Maryknoll, they returned to the United States where they married. Now, shortly after the birth of their son Gus, they have returned to Cambodia as the country representatives of the Mennonite Central Committee which has several projects throughout the kingdom. |

Bill and Eileen are a little different from the other former Maryknollers who have left Maryknoll but continue to work in Cambodia because they served with Maryknoll in Tanzania. Only after finishing their Maryknoll contract in Africa did they move to Cambodia and begin work there. Bill is the director of Cambodia Trust and Eileen works with an NGO that identifies physically disabled people in rural villages. They are still much a part of the Maryknoll family, however, and join us almost every Wednesday when we have our liturgy and dinner together. And they always bring a big bag of delicious, much-appreciated popcorn! |
