The mission of the Church in Asia and the mission of Maryknoll in the MMM are much intertwined with inter-religious dialogue as we interact with the other great world religions that call Asia their place of origin and their home.
Many, if not most Maryknollers in Asia, work with mainly Buddhist populations so it is important for us to understand the significance of Buddhism and its effects on the societies and cultures around us. In August, 2002, the MMM (the Maryknoll Mekong Missions) organized a Buddhism workshop at an ashram near Bangkok. Approximately 25 Maryknoll lay missioners, brothers, sisters, and priests from six Maryknoll countries attended.
